Since 1998, Washington
State has perhaps the worst unemployment rate in the nation.
Visits to food banks have increased by 50%. There are
now more than 630,000 visiting food banks. Washington
State has been rated the 2nd worst hunger level in the nation.
Face of hunger changing: 40% are children; primary source
of income for 75% is a job, retirement or disability; 50% more
food bank recipients in Western Washington have post-high
school education compared to national average.
